Death
“Risk is what it
means to be human!” she cries.
Her words fall on
deaf ears like lies
Why oh why
Would we want the
surprise
Of dying in an age
Where death is no
gilded cage?
Why would we need a
society
In which there is
more tragedy?
A deathless life
Akin to strife
She chuckles wryly,
Intones calmly
“Death is what
gives meaning to living
And in expiring
Find a purpose
That makes its
absence worthless.”
But you go around
with technology’s leash
Around your neck
like a bloodsucking leech
And choke out the
life as we knew it before
And scream towards
an inescapable door
To humanity’s
likeness
A tragic sort of
kindness
That leans into
darkness
And blinded we see
the “light”
And marvel at once
how it is “bright”
But never do see
again
How open we are with
the concept of sin
Without death how is
life to begin?
